Cinnamon-Vanilla Protein Latte

I’ve been experimenting with ways to have a warm, milky drink that my body likes.

I’ve been a tea drinker for a long time now. No coffee for me, as I’m fairly sensitive to caffeine. But even tea gives me a jolt that my body, at times, doesn’t like.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to wake up to something warm and milky…I love the heaviness of tea (I’ve tried to do herbal tea, but it just doesn’t cut it for me). But I’ve been trying to figure out how to do this without the caffeine and without any sugar.

And I think I figured it out!

Meet my Cinnamon-Vanilla Protein Latte. It is DELISH. And it is completely caffeine and sugar free. And, as an added bonus, it is packed full of protein.

In the last few years, I seem to not want to eat right away when I wake up in the morning. But I know having something with protein is really great for us in the morning. This warm drink is perfect for this.

I’ve also figured out that when we are prone to inflammation, like I am, caffeine is not our friend. While caffeine is known to stimulate - and likely over-stimulate - our nervous systems, when this happens in a body with a sensitive digestive system, it can cause an inflammatory effect.

These systems work in tandem with each other. So what stresses out a nervous system will stress out a digestive system and vice versa. These two systems are like partners in crime.

So, we work with both of them.

And although I’ve made this drink with A2 Dairy, you could easily substitute the dairy for a dairy-free option. I would use full fat coconut milk for this recipe because you want a heavier, fattier milk.

This is also a great before-bed drink. A little hit of fat and protein before bed can help us sleep.

INGREDIENTS:

1.5 - 2 cups of 3.25% A2 Cows Milk (or substitute with full fat coconut milk0

1 egg yolk

Scoop of vanilla whey isolate powder

1/2 tsp of cinnamon

Pinch of sea salt

DIRECTIONS:

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until it is nicely mixed

Pour the blended drink into a small saucepan and heat over medium-high heat until warm

Enjoy!
