Hawk Medicine and Raising Your Frequency

A couple of weeks ago I was able to spend some much needed time by myself. I went up to the lake where our cottage sits on an island. While I was there, I did a plant medicine ceremony. My medicine of choice is psilocybin, which is the active ingredient in what are commonly known as Magic Mushrooms.

This wasn't my first rodeo with mushrooms. I had experimented in the past in ceremony and was pretty blown away by the potency of their teaching.

It is one thing to take a small, recreational dose of 'shrooms' (which I can tell you from my University days is a helluva lot of fun!) but it's an entirely other experience to take a therapeutic dose of these little fungal wisdom keepers.

If you wind up digging into the research on psilocybin (and there is a growing body of scientific research on these nature-born teachers) you will find that pschedelics such as mushrooms are being studied for their incredible effects on depression, smoking cessation, anxiety, PTSD and a host of other long-term grievances.

One doctor who works with psilocybin describes the experience as one where the neural pathways (or better said, our conditioning) is temporarily wiped away; completely.

So where I might have conditioning around self-worth or relationships with men or health, those are wiped clean during a psychedelic "trip" so that we're able to see the world through totally unconditioned and curious eyes.

What researchers are finding is that some of these deeply ingrained neural pathways simply do not come back after a psychedelic experience.

What happened that day, for me, was nothing short of miraculous. Let me explain.

About 2 hours into my trip, I was sitting on the deck, looking up into a pristine blue sky. I saw a beautiful hawk circling above. I watched as some little birds came to harass the hawk (as little birds do with bigger birds).

The hawk hovered above me for a bit and swooped out of the way of the pesky little birds and then did something incredible.

It flew almost straight upwards...high, high, high, into the sky where the little birds could not follow it. These bigger, predatory birds can do this. They can fly at exceptionally high altitudes where the little ones can not go.

It was showing me, don't stay down in the chaos, girl, go higher.

Hawk Medicine shows us how to raise our frequency. And if one actually comes to you, it not only shows you how to change your frequency, but it is there to raise it.

We are not separate from the natural world (or anything else, for that matter). We are partners with one another here as we walk each other home.

After sinking into the chaos of the past year and a half where I've worried about everything from our sovereignty to our ability to move forward as a collective (which of course my ego has no control over), this deep shift in frequency has felt like a saviour.

It reminded me of several key things.

We will not...can not put out a fire while lying down in the coals.

We are not in charge of the unfolding of the Universe, this planet or even our own lives. That is beyond the 'individual.'

Our frequency is everything. In other words, the energy in which we sit either makes us or breaks us, regardless of what is happening on the exterior. And the exterior will appear and arrange itself according to the frequency of the one looking.

I'm still processing and integrating this new frequency but wanted to share these insights with you...the awakening soul.

In deep love, peace and stillness,

Ann xx

P.S. Please do not underestimate the power and intensity of a plant medicine experience. It is not for the faint of heart. Most people will greatly benefit from having a guide with them for this kind of experience.
