Ancestral Eating For Renewed Health

Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.
— Hippocrates 400 BC

Food and diet are the low hanging fruit of wellness.

Without a really clean and balanced diet, it will be near impossible to feel well over the longterm. And of course, wellness is not the absence of sickness. It is something else altogether.

It is the feeling of vibrancy, energy, clarity, lightness…you can see it in people’s eyes, skin, movements. You can hear in their voice. You can feel it in their alertness; presence.

I studied for 4 years and graduated from The Edison Institute of Nutrition. It was a fascinating journey that a deep personal history of autoimmune disease - Crohn’s Disease - brought me to.

Through decades of deep dives into the energetics of autoimmunity and wellbeing in general, there is one practice that cannot be escaped. And that is a proper diet.

These physical bodies of ours require certain raw elements in order to simply exist.

Fat and protein are macronutrients that, without them, we would die. So if you’re ever stranded on an island somewhere and could only bring one food with you, the one you would survive on would be something like a piece of beef.

But I know you’re looking for much more than basic survival. You’re looking to thrive.

Food is the primary element of all building blocks for our physical existence. It’s like having a beautiful new car that you polish and keep clean and drive with care. But if you’re putting the wrong gas in it, it will break down.

Nutrition is such a simple and straightforward game. We’ve complicated the hell out of it, only because we live with such incredible choice and opinion on diets, we no longer know what’s up.

Most of the food choices we now find in all grocery stores don’t actually include real food. These are food-like products that were made in a factory and that contain the precise mix of ingredients aimed at addicting you.

There’s certainly no health benefit to any of them, despite their labeled claims.

Ancestral eating means eating like our grandparents or great grandparents ate.

Real food. No additives. Prepared by your own hands with care.

Fresh produce - organic if you can find it - and pasture raised meats such as beef, chicken, pork, lamb and foul. Fresh water and wild caught fish and seafood are also essential ingredients in an ancestral diet.

Fat from animals, such as tallow, duck fat, pork fat, coconut oil and good sources of olive oil add in not only taste but crucial nutrients to our diet.

Sugar in the form of seasonal fruits or local honey or maple syrup are what our bodies are made for.

If you’ve been feeling bloated, tired, anxious…if you’ve had skin issues, autoimmunity, sore joints, diarrhea, insomnia…you would likely improve on an Ancestral Diet.

If you can’t imagine removing your daily sugary snacks or copious amounts of caffeine, you might be surprised to know that you’re not actually the one craving this stuff.

It is your gut bacteria that craves this food.

When you remove the processed, high sugar foods from your diet, miraculously, in a matter of days, your cravings for these foods will go away. As your gut bacteria changes, so will your cravings, likes and dislikes.

Real, whole food becomes amazing again. We begin to crave a beautifully cooked roast, with sweet potatoes smothered in grass-fed butter, sprinkled with cinnamon, with a side salad of mixed greens, fresh garlic, sliced avocado and fresh strawberries.

This is the kind of meal that our bodies come to crave. And it is this kind of meal that feeds ALL parts of us.

It doesn’t need to be complicated.

Upcoming Program for Autoimmune Relief!!!

Stay tuned for an upcoming online program for sufferers of autoimmunity. The program will include a detailed deep dive into diet and lifestyle that will help you to recover and reclaim vibrant health.

The dietary portion of this program will focus on an Ancestral Diet. This means, this is a meat and seafood centred program that would not be appropriate for vegans or vegetarians.

While vegetarianism is quite appropriate for some, it is not the appropriate diet for those of us with autoimmune disorders.
